Does anyone know where I could get a file of this movie? Apparently it's public domain, the movie was made in 1973 and the license expired a while ago. I was pretty surprised that it wasn't already in the archives, it's a very influential film.

I'm not at all sure this great film is public domain - but who knows. It's one of my faves. I have only a battered, 20-year-old VHS copy. I've heard various bad things about commercial releases.

The movie is available from more than one Bit Torrent and emule source, usually as a DIVX AVI. I have yet to grab one of these versions, because I never got around to it. Thanks for reminding me.

I don't think Fantastic Planet is in the public domain. It's out on DVD, along with a few of the directors shorts. The disc only costs about $15.

I found it months ago as a 164MB DivX AVI, but the quality was poor.
I just found it now here..

(as La Planete Sauvage) .. it's 697MB region 1 I think

But I can't get it to download using an FTP manager, my Browser or using Flashget.. Frustrating.

It did sell for $15 but is out of print now I believe.
The DVD version distributed by Anchor Bay goes for $40 to $60 on eBay regularily.
I've heard it's in the public domain too, but I don't know if that's a fact or not.
